VHRN Newsnote: "John XXIII and the Vincentian family."

This Sunday, Pope Francis will canonize two of his 20th century predecessors: John XXIII and John Paul II. Co-incidentally the Vincentiana Collection at DePaul University just acquired this 1959 photo of the pope dated 12 January 1959. The byline reads: "Pope John presented gifts to 150 children at Rome's St. Martha's Children's Home. The pontiff later apologized to his chauffeur, Mario Stoppa, for making him wait so long. "I will walk home," the pope said, and did-half a mile around the Vatican walls from the convent to his apartments."
